Located in the heart of Bangkok’s lifestyle district, the new United Overseas Bank headquarters in Thailand is an impressive addition to the city’s rapidly evolving skyline. The new HQ, inspired by the form of crystals, has been built around the High-Performance Workplace (HPW) philosophy, which meant that creating an inspiring environment that prioritised comfort and wellbeing was crucial.

THE CHALLENGE

The tower, designed by KPF Architects, features complex geometries, sharp angles, and glass walls throughout, meaning that a bespoke shading system with highly specific angles and shapes was required.

It was crucial to the team behind the project that the new workspace followed the HPW philosophy, which promotes high performance, collaboration, togetherness, and sustainability at all times. Therefore, an effective solar shading solution was essential for prioritising employee comfort and sustainability.

THE SOLUTION

We were able to successfully implement an expert, bespoke shading solution for the tower which has become affectionately known as ‘the dazzling crystal of Sukhumvit Skyline’. Custom shading systems were designed and installed, including the tailoring of the TESS140™ and TESS101™ ranges with specific angles required to fit the building’s unique architecture.
